I’ve talked quite a bit about my own drinking habits. I decided sometime when I was younger that I wouldn’t drink until I was of age and I stuck to that decision. There wasn’t even an opportunity to drink when I was underage. And I don’t see that I missed anything. For years I rarely drank and even less frequently went to bars. I was often the one in the group who didn’t drink at all or only a little. On the other hand, it was easy not to drink when I didn’t have many friends to go to bars with at one point. At some point I started drinking more and more often. It happened gradually.

Those who remember me from the years when I drank less may not even know that at some point I drank more. A lot of money was spent on alcohol in 2018-2019. Especially since I often went to bars in those days. Usually during the evening I drank more than basic beer. Economic reasons were indeed one incentive to reduce drinking, although certainly not the only reason.

My tolerance was really high at one point. I noticed it at the point where I needed at least two or three drinks before the alcohol even started to go to my head. Not to mention, after many drinks, I was really groggy. I think it was often close to ten drinks during the evening, and that’s a lot for a woman. I admit that I didn’t know how to stop in time at some point. Not to mention hangovers.

The effect of reducing alcohol on my life

I realized at the end of 2019 that I hadn’t even gone a month without drinking for a long time. That’s when I started to change my drinking habits. I realized that I don’t even really like being drunk. A few now and then is still okay, but constant binge drinking is not for me. I don’t know how much cutting down on drinking has affected my mood. The health effects of not drinking weigh quite a lot these days, when I try to live a healthy life anyway.

I really haven’t given up alcohol completely. I try to pay attention to the reasons and ways, i.e. why and how much I drink alcohol. I still like to taste microbrewery and specialty beers, and I think I get more out of that too when I drink less at once and in general. This year I’ve had an average of once a month and usually no more than two drinks at a time. I’ve been in Känn twice, and after the second time I realized why I should drink less. I know I could drink even less often, but I don’t take pressure from how often I drink either. The main thing is that I drink less at a time.

It’s probably a bit amusing that these days I’m the one who goes (walking) jogging while others are drinking somewhere. Last New Year I went for a run at night and realized it for the first time. I used to be amused by people at the gym near one of the bars when I went to the bar. Nowadays, I’d rather choose not to drink alcohol and feel good (e.g. that run) than the next day’s hangover.

I’ve had the misconception that beer has to contain alcohol. Last summer I tasted alcohol-free beer for the first time. I’ve had non-alcoholic beer a few times in a bar since then. However, I rarely go to bars at the moment because of the current world situation and also because I can’t stand drunk people.

Somehow it feels strange to write about drinking habits openly. This thing still seems to be taboo. Everyone seems to drink and those who don’t are somehow strange in the eyes of others. It’s easier to choose that beer at a party or bar than a non-alcoholic drink. I’ve been the annoying guy who has asked why someone doesn’t drink or almost forced someone to drink. On the other hand, I’ve never really been the party type. I like talking more than dancing.

I would hope that in our society in the future it would be normal not to drink alcohol without being asked for reasons or almost being forced to drink. After all, everyone chooses whether to drink or not. It’s good to talk about these things openly, but with respect for the other person. Not everyone wants to talk about their own drinking habits or is even ready for it.

I have been thinking about this for a long time and have concluded that I can choose a golden middle ground when it comes to drinking alcohol. I can drink, but basically try to avoid the state of being drunk. It’s not either or either. I don’t see myself missing out on anything if I drink less. On the other hand, I wouldn’t miss out on anything even if I stopped drinking completely. Actually, I don’t have to be accountable except to myself. This is my life and I get to decide what I drink. I encourage others who drink alcohol to examine their drinking habits from time to time.

If you only eat e.g. 1-2 times a day, it can be experienced as if the body is going into a kind of hibernation. You enter a vicious spiral where you feel like eating sweet and fat to awaken the body. But the result is only that the body wakes up for a short while, to then go to sleep again – and then again will want cream buns and french fries

Eat regularly: 4-6 meals a day

The tomatoes could have already been planted in the greenhouse, but since the night temperatures were only a few degrees, we didn’t dare to do that. To prevent all the seedlings from growing too tall indoors, we spread the risk, and last weekend we planted half of the seedlings in the greenhouse, and left the other half to wait.

We were already going to plant the rest on Maundy Thursday, but the day was so rainy that we ended up doing other things at home. Maybe this weekend.

Our composts have brought a lot of joy. In addition to the fact that our large garden composters produce nice mulch from the stalks of perennials and other garden waste, our thermal composter now got a better place where it is in the sun all day.

The composter that was previously located on the shady side of the cabin was still frozen for a long time, but when I moved it next to the garden composters a few weeks ago, it also started up again, and the internal temperature of the composter is comfortably around 50 degrees. The mulch from this composter has already been spread on the berry bushes.

In addition to tomato seedlings, lettuce, stem broccoli, broad bean and summer flower seedlings grow in the greenhouse.

The broad bean became our big favorite when we got bean seedlings two years ago. The bean turned out to grow very well, yield and be delicious, so now it is one of our standard vegetables.

The biggest chore of spring is building a rabbit fence. I already bought the necessities last summer, but I didn’t get to work in time enough, and the ground became too hard.

Now I have already managed to install a quarter of the fence in a couple of days, and the work will continue as long as I have time again. I dig the fence into the ground, and also turn the bottom edge of the fence so-called in the direction of the rabbits, so that they don’t dig under it.

The porch is full of all kinds of flowers that Mrs. will plant in the yard in the next few weeks.

 

Oh, and a fig! It wintered inside the cabin, where we keep the temperature around 5 degrees in the winter, and to our delight it woke up in the spring. Looks like we’ll get a few figs of our own this year too!

Excited to see what kind of summer this will be like. There are a few summers that are far too hot and dry, and I wish it would be a little cooler and suitably rainy. At the moment, it looks quite promising in that regard.

Toujours emmitouflés, nos pieds sont soumis à rude épreuve l’hiver : ils souffrent du froid, de l’humidité, de la transpiration et surtout d’être enfermés dans des chaussures fermées… Même s’ils sont moins visibles et exposés qu’en été, ils nécessitent malgré tout une attention particulière. Quelques astuces simples permettent d’avoir des pieds doux et beaux, préservés d’un bout à l’autre de l’année…

 

#1 Prendre le temps de s’offrir un bain de pied une fois par semaine

Un bain de pied est un geste beauté simple à réaliser, idéalement une fois par semaine, après une journée passée debout, à piétiner, dans des chaussures fermées ou sur des talons.

Il vous suffit de verser, au choix, dans une bassine d’eau tiède : une cuillère à soupe de gros sel, des sels de bain, un galet effervescent enrichi en oligo-éléments et minéraux ou des huiles essentielles. Une dizaine de minutes suffit pour détendre ses pieds.

Le truc en +
On évite les bains prolongés trop chaud et on prend soin de bien sécher ses pieds pour supprimer toute humidité.

Privilégier l’eau tiède et le savon doux Au quotidien, il est important :

  • De laver et de sécher ses pieds soigneusement.
  • De préférer l’eau tiède à l’eau chaude qui altère le film protecteur de la peau.
  • De privilégier un savon doux et de bien s’essuyer entre chaque orteil avant d’enfiler ses chaussettes ou ses collants.

#2 S’offrir un peu de douceur…

Les frottements ont tendance épaissir et à assécher la couche cornée. Or, nos pieds sont déjà naturellement secs du fait de l’absence de glandes sébacées. Il est donc nécessaire de les gommer régulièrement avant de les hydrater généreusement.

Le truc en +
On remplace les râpes et autres pierres ponces – souvent un peu trop agressives – par un soin gommant spécifiquement conçus pour les pieds, qui exfoliera la peau en douceur.

 

#3 Nourrir et hydrater

Il est important de privilégier les soins ultra-nourrissants à base d’huile végétale (argan, amande douce), de beurres végétaux (karité ou mangue par exemple), ou les crèmes enrichies, spécialement formulées pour les pieds desséchés.

On s’offre un masque de temps à autre. Il suffit pour cela de crémer largement ses pieds puis de les recouvrir d’une chaussette (à conserver, si possible, plusieurs heures durant ou tout au long de la nuit). Hydratation maximale garantie !

 

#4 Place au massage

4 TIPS: HOW TO STYLE YOUR FLOWERS LIKE A PROF

Flowers on stripe

Even the narrow radiator cover or a small window sill can house a decorative bouquet of flowers. Look for an elongated and elliptical vase, like this one from Muuto, which can simultaneously unfold the bouquet like a colorful fan. It can be a little challenging to make bouquets in an elliptical vase. A good tip is to use oasis or chicken nets in the bottom of the vase. That way, you can stick the flowers in the vase one at a time and control what direction and height each stem should have.

2. Sort the stems

Sunflower is a favorite of many. Put the sunny yellow favorites together with other tall stems, and group the flowers so that a kind is concentrated in one side. Here the light blue knight’s spores are set on the left side of the tall vase, after which the sunflowers are distributed around the loose bouquet. The vase is from Hein Studio.

3. Cut yourself into stinging flowers

Perhaps you have experienced that cut sunflowers can quickly hang upside down. A good idea is to wrap a thick steel wire around the stem of the sunflower; it can help keep the heavy head up. Make a long oblique cut in the flowers, and also make sure that they get fresh water every day. The flowers on the table are clematis, sunflowers, astilbe, orchid, spores and texas bell.

 

 

4. Tie a ditch edge bouquet like a prof

Begin with a flower in the palm of your hand between your thumb and forefinger. Place the next flower as a cross over the other stem. Also, cross the next one over the previous flower, and continue like this with the rest of the flowers. Always remember to turn the bouquet along the way, in this way you “lock” the stems in each other so that they do not move. It is called tying a bouquet in a spiral. The vase is from Kähler x Stilleben.
